Privacy
The short version: we store what is needed to run the games and nothing else. There are no advertising pixels, no Google Analytics, and no third-party tracking tools anywhere on this site.
Playing without an account
You do not need an account to play. Your progress, streaks and settings are saved in your own browser using local storage, on your device. We cannot read that, and clearing your browser data deletes it.
If you create an account
Accounts exist so your progress can follow you to another device. There are no passwords — you give us an email address and we send you a sign-in link. We store:
- Your email address, so we can send that link and recognise you.
- A copy of the same puzzle progress your browser already saves, so it can be restored on your other devices.
- Sign-in sessions, as a random token. We store only a hash of it, so a copy of our database could not be used to sign in as you.
Play statistics
We count how many people started and finished each puzzle, and how the individual words or squares within it went. These are plain counters attached to the puzzle, not to you: no account ID, no device identifier and no IP address is stored alongside them, so they cannot be traced back to a person or joined up into a profile.
Hosting, and the small amount we pass on
The site, database and sign-in emails all run on Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes technical data such as IP addresses in the course of serving and protecting the site.
When you request a sign-in link we briefly keep a hash of your IP address next to that request. It exists purely to stop someone using the sign-in form to send mail to strangers, it is never stored in a readable form, and it is deleted within a day.
If you send feedback through the in-game form, the message and any email address you choose to include are delivered to us by FormSubmit, a third-party form-to-email service. Only what you type in that form is sent to them. If you would rather not use it, email us directly instead.
How long we keep things
- Sign-in links: 30 minutes, then they stop working. Deleted within a day.
- Sessions: until you sign out, or 400 days after signing in.
- Account and synced progress: until you delete your account.
- Puzzle statistics: kept indefinitely, because they are not about you.
Deleting your account
Open Profile from the menu and choose Delete my account. That immediately and permanently removes your email address, your synced progress and every session, on every device. There is no recovery period. You can also email us and we will do it for you.
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export or erase the personal data we hold about you, and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Email us for any of these.
Children
The games are suitable for all ages, but accounts are not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has created one, tell us and we will delete it.
Terms
By playing PZL games you agree to what is on this page. If you do not, please don't use the site.
Playing
The games are free to play for your own personal enjoyment. You do not need an account, and we will not charge you for anything described here.
Your account
An account is tied to an email address you control. Keep access to that inbox safe: anyone who can read it can request a sign-in link and reach your account. Tell us if you think someone else has got in.
You can delete your account at any time from the Profile menu, and we may close an account that is being used to attack or abuse the site.
Please don't
- Scrape the site, or hammer it with automated requests.
- Copy our puzzles, wordlists or game designs into your own product without asking first.
- Reverse engineer the site to extract puzzle answers in advance.
- Try to break, overload or interfere with the service for other players.
Everything on the site — the games, the puzzles, the artwork and the name — belongs to Perfect Level Games Ltd. Sharing your result grid is very much encouraged.
No guarantees
The games are provided as they are. We do our best to publish a correct puzzle every day and to keep the site up, but we cannot promise it will always be available, error-free, or that your saved progress will never be lost. Back-ups exist but are not guaranteed.
We may add, change or retire games and features over time, including this one. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud caused by us, because the law does not allow that.
Changes and law
We may update these terms. The date below tells you when they last changed, and continuing to play after that means you accept the new version. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
