How to play Zanagrams Master

Zanagrams Master uses the Zanagrams rules and asks more of them. Twenty-five letters, joined by bridges. You drag a path along those bridges to spell a hidden word, or you type it once you can see it. Words have to be at least four letters. When a word is complete, letters and bridges that nothing else still needs fall away. Nothing about the gesture changes. What changes is how long the picture takes to simplify.

On the sixteen-letter board, one obvious word often does half the work, because the disappearance opens the rest. On Master, the first word is still the most important move, and it is less likely to be sitting in a clean line. The daily puzzle is a thicker knot: more crossings, more shared tiles, fewer gifts in the opening minute. One board a day, with older ones kept in the archive.

How a round works

  • Drag along the bridges, or type, to find the hidden words.
  • Words must be four letters or longer.
  • Required words solve the day. Extra words on the same bridges are optional.
  • Letters and paths disappear once no remaining required word needs them.
  • The rack is twenty-five letters, not sixteen.

Shared tiles stay until the last word that uses them is found. A letter that survives two finds is not a glitch. It is still part of something you have not spelled. The board only gets quiet when you are actually done with that region. Waiting for a dramatic collapse before you look at the next corner is how a Master board stays crowded.

How to start when nothing looks like a word

Rare letters first. J, Q, X, Z, and awkward pairs like CK or GH cannot hide in as many words as E, A, S, and T. Build outward from the awkward letter. The common letters will connect almost anything, so starting there on a twenty-five-letter board gives you too many legal paths and no reason to prefer one.

Take the short words seriously. Four letters is not filler at this size. A short word is often the only thing tying two longer ones together, and finding it is what lets a bridge disappear. If a region has not changed, you are probably skipping a plain word inside it because you are hunting a long one.

Undo freely. A path that stops being English is information: that bridge does not spell what you hoped. Lift and try the neighbour. Typing is the right tool once the word is clear and the path is fiddly. It is the wrong tool if you are guessing from a mental word list that ignores which letters can actually reach each other.

Where it sits

Play Zanagrams for the daily untangle at coffee length. Play Zanagrams Master when you want the same quiet puzzle to last longer and push back. It sits with the other master games: 18 Words if you want a clock, and Sunflowers Master if you want logic instead of letters.
