18 Words

Eighteen anagrams to work through, with 30 seconds and one shuffle for each. For days when nine words leave you wanting more.

How to play

Rearrange each set of letters to make a word before the timer runs out. You must use every letter, and you can shuffle once if you need a fresh look. The rules are the same as 9 Words, but with twice as many anagrams to solve, keeping your concentration becomes part of the challenge.

  • Use every letter, with 30 seconds and one shuffle per word.
  • Work through 18 anagrams to complete the daily puzzle.
  • Your progress is saved as you go. Earlier puzzles are available in the archive.

Keeping your focus

Take each anagram as it comes. Solving one quickly can give you a moment to regroup, but it will not add time to the next. You get a fresh shuffle for every word, so use it when the current arrangement stops being helpful.

If you cannot see the whole word, start with part of it. A prefix, a double letter or an ending such as -ing can narrow the possibilities. Once you have a likely answer, try it before the clock runs down. A clean nine has advice that applies to both games, and How to play 18 Words covers the full rules.

Questions

What is 18 Words?

18 Words is a free daily anagram game from PZL Games and the longer version of 9 Words. Each puzzle has 18 words, with 30 seconds and one shuffle to solve each one.

Is 18 Words harder than 9 Words?

The rules and time allowance are the same. The extra challenge comes from solving twice as many words and staying focused through the later anagrams.

What helps with the harder anagrams?

Look for familiar letter combinations, prefixes and endings. Use your shuffle if you keep getting stuck on the same arrangement. Each word has its own 30-second timer, so unused time from an earlier answer does not carry over.
