Headlines

A word-swapping puzzle made from three news headlines. Headlines is currently taking a break; try Definitions for a daily puzzle in the same style.

Headlines is taking a break

Headlines is paused for now. In the meantime, you can play Definitions, which uses the same swapping rules and colour clues with dictionary definitions in place of news headlines. If you have played Headlines before, it will feel familiar.

How the puzzle works

Three real headlines are mixed up across three rows. Tap two words to swap their places. Green words are in the correct position and lock in place. Orange words belong in that headline but need to move to another position. Grey words belong in a different row. You have a limited number of swaps, with a few more than the minimum needed to solve the puzzle.

You do not need to know the news to solve it. All the words are already on the board; the challenge is to put each sentence back together. How to play Headlines still has the full rules, and How to play Definitions will help you get started with the current daily game.

Questions

Can I play Headlines today?

Headlines is currently taking a break. You can play Definitions for a daily puzzle with the same word-swapping format, using dictionary definitions instead of news headlines.

What is Headlines?

Headlines is a word puzzle from PZL Games in which you rebuild three scrambled news headlines. Swap words between positions and use the colours to work out where each one belongs.

Do I need to follow the news to play?

No. Everything you need is on the board. The challenge is to reconstruct the headlines from their words, rather than answer questions about the news.
