Sunflowers Master
A more challenging Sunflowers garden, with a pencil tool to help you test a possibility before committing to it.
How to play
As in Sunflowers, each number counts the flowers in the squares around it. Plant the flowers and mark the empty squares until the garden is complete. The clues take more work to untangle here, but the puzzle can still be solved by logic. Start with zeros and any certain placements, then use the pencil when you need to explore how a possible arrangement would affect the rest of the grid.
- Double-tap to plant a flower, or right-click on a desktop.
- Tap once to mark a square as empty.
- Tap a faded number, including 0, to mark its remaining neighbouring squares as empty.
- Use pencil mode to make temporary marks. Tap the pencil again to keep or discard them.
Using the pencil
Choose a square to test, then follow what that choice would mean for nearby clues. If a number ends up with too many flowers, or too few possible spaces to reach its total, you can rule out that arrangement and discard your marks. Check the consequences before keeping them. There is also a hint available if you get stuck.
Edges and corners can be helpful because their numbers have fewer neighbouring squares to consider. Work through what those clues tell you, then return to the busier parts of the garden. Without a guess introduces the approach, and How to play Sunflowers Master explains the pencil tool. For a gentler puzzle, try the original Sunflowers.
Questions
What is Sunflowers Master?
Sunflowers Master is the harder version of Sunflowers. You use number clues to place flowers and mark empty squares, with a pencil tool for testing possible arrangements.
How does the pencil work?
Pencil mode lets you make temporary marks and follow their effect on nearby clues. If an arrangement makes a clue impossible to satisfy, discard it. Tap the pencil again to choose whether to keep or remove your marks.
Can I solve it without guessing?
Yes. Every puzzle is designed to be solved by logic. The pencil helps you work through possibilities and rule out those that contradict the clues.
